satellite shine biography
Based in the Berkshire mountains of Western Massachusetts, Satellite Shine is an Acoustic Duo that re-arranges and performs classic covers that once dominated the airwaves by artists such as Van Morrison, Tom Waits, Peter Frampton, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Tom Petty and David Bowie as well as popular songs of today by artists such as Bright Eyes, The Plain White T's, John Mayer, Kid Rock, Train and more.
Although Satellite Shine is an acoustic duo, the duo also offers a full band sound using "backing tracks" that the band created by recording real drums, bass guitar, sax and other instruments in their studio to give the duo a "full band" sound. These tracks will help get people up on the dance floor as if listening to an entire band. If you close your eyes, you will swear a group of musicians are entertaining you.
Satellite Shine is Darren O'Brien on Lead Vocals and Matt Alibozek on Guitar and Backing Vocals. Darren and Matt have been performing together in bands for over 10 years and both have many years experience performing in nightclubs, taverns, ski resorts, and private functions throughout the Northeast and Canada.
You can find Satellite Shine performing at many of Vermont's finest ski resorts including Bromley Ski Resort, Grizzly's Tavern at the base of Stratton MT Ski Resort, and in many of the base lodges at Killington Ski Resort. You can also find Satellite Shine performing at many venues throughout New England and many Berkshire taverns including the well known Lion's Den, downstairs from The Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, Massachusetts (a favorite stomping ground for James Taylor, Charlie Sheen (Winning!), Steve Martin, members of the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops orchestra, and many other well known folks).
Satellite Shine is available for tavern, ski resort, music venue, special event bookings and wedding services & receptions. Visit our booking/contact page for booking contact information.
NOTE: Darren and Matt recently recorded a 5 song demo CD for use in securing bookings. After the songs were uploaded to their Myspace website, one song, a cover of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean received over 23,000 plays in just weeks. The 4 songs in total have received well over 43,000 plays.
Satellites shine because they reflect sunlight (presumably because they are made of shiny, reflective metal). They orbit high above the earth, so for 2-3 hours after sunset and before sunrise, the sun doesn't shine on the part of Earth you are standing on, but it still hits the satellite. This is when you are most likely to see a satellite.
In the morning Satellite Shine is powered by Dottie's Coffee and in the evening our drink of choice is Reyka Vodka!!
